Gurl with Guns

UPDATE: So i have came to the end with this I think. To work with color requires being bold and confident with your strokes, I think I got too wrapped up in details and lost sight of the bigger picture, I painted for 15 hours or so on this and it feels like im jsut spinning my artistic tires on it now, and half way through I changed the direction of my light source.. BIG NO NO i found out. One of these is a step in my process where I lay down the highlights and shade as block of color, the nitty gritty is trying to blend them, in which case I lost momentum. Well onto other things now.

Next UP! Gurl w/ Guns. This is another drawing I did that I liked and thought it had some really nice elements to it. however like everything else I draw it desperately needed a second pass. Her balance was off, The persepctive on the guns were off / I didnt like the designs, and some of her facial features seemed placed wrong. Don't get me wrong I could easily give any drawing a 3/4/5 pass over to tweak and tighten, but I wanted to get to painting her. Plus the longer I work on something the less chance their is of me finishing it.

I kinda like the "before blending" version. They're both nice, but there's something about the other one that caught my attention.

The rendering on the guns is really nice and I Dhalsim below is pretty darn sweet!

I feel like this isn't nearly as strong as the Dhalsim, this one feels like you put too much effort into it, you know what i mean? Over worked I guess would be a better word. I think the lightsource makes the pic way to busy back there, pulling the attention off of the girl, thats the main problem that I have with it. I do like the top one better, the blended one, but the other one works as well. Keep it up bro, lets see some more.

Really dig the Dhalsim below Dan. The hands are especially sweet. I also like how you kept the line art behind the colored image. The hands are super good. Nice shadows as well, the only thing missing is the glow affect on that flame. This one not quite as strong as Dhalsim, the individual parts are drawn nicely they just aren't working too well together. The guns are fantastic though. Way to go Danny Boy.

Helle-I couldn't agree with you more!

Weime-I agree with you as well, several parts arnt wroking for me anymore, the slant on the breats doesnt match what the slant on the ribcage, The hair doesn't read / doesn't make sense. and the face is lacking in appeal, I think the pencil drawing had the most appeal, and something was lost in translation during painting. Like I siad in the post I changed light sources mid paint which is probably whats mostly at fault here. But thanks guys for the crits, its the only way I learn.

PS I didn't paint the flame, I got bored lol. Although the whole thing is so close to being done I think I will go back and finish it, although I doubt I will re post it.
